Global Industry: on vertical farming and salmon side streams

Bremerhaven. (bm) The winners of the Vertical Farming World Awards 2024 were announced this week during the 5th annual Vertical Farming World Congress in Frankfurt am Main (DE). The awards are organized by global food and beverage experts Zenith Global. To recognize the outstanding achievements and innovations in the global vertical farming industry, entries were invited in various categories. Swedish Swegreen was delighted to win in the «Best Resource Efficiency» category and is very proud of this.

Also very proud is the Finnish company Hailia Nordic Oy. In April 2024, Hailia won the «World Food Innovation Award» for best technology, and the company was listed as one of the «30 most interesting circular economy solutions for nature» by the World Circular Economy Forum. Hailia develops novel and resource-efficient seafood processing technologies and produces innovative seafood products. Founded 2021, the company aims to revolutionize resource efficiency in the seafood industry by maximizing the use of underutilized fish raw materials. Now Hailia starts manufacturing food products from salmon sidestreams provided by fish processing company Hätälä Oy. In addition to its home market in Finland, Hätälä operates in various European markets – mainstreaming sidestreams. Other topics of the week:
